Do I have to follow a course?
No. Start in Teach with a topic or conversation you choose. Ask a follow-up, explore another expression or switch topics. If you prefer a starting point, try the Coffee scene.
Can I change how Hanlo teaches?
Yes. Choose direct instruction, supportive guidance or a focus on corrections. You can also ask for brief, standard or in-depth explanations. These preferences shape open-ended replies; the prepared scene dialogues stay the same.
Is Hanlo a translator?
A translator helps when you need to understand something right now. Hanlo helps you learn and rehearse a conversation before you have it, with Mandarin phrases, pinyin and speaking practice.
Can I start as a beginner?
Yes. Hanlo is for adult learners, including beginners. Lessons include Chinese characters, tone-marked pinyin and English meanings. You do not need to know pinyin before you start.
What happens to my practice recordings?
Speaking-practice recordings stay on your device. Save the lesson to a plan to keep its recordings; unsaved recordings are cleared when you leave that teaching session. Hanlo does not score or transcribe them.
